Reducing Browser Extension Risk with Spin.AI Risk Assessment + Perception Point
Spin.AI is collaborating with Perception Point: integrating the Spin.AI Browser Extension Risk Assessment within the Perception Point Advanced Browser Security solution. With this complementary feature, admins now have added visibility into potentially risky third-party extensions detected within the Perception Point ecosystem.
In this blog, we’ll explore the need for enhanced browser security, show how Spin.AI’s App Risk Assessment works at a glance (and why it’s already integrated with Google Chrome), and see how this gives Perception Point customers the ability to quickly and easily mitigate third-party risks across Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
The growing need for browser security
Spin.AI’s recent report reveals that a staggering 75% of SaaS applications pose high or moderate risks to businesses. While we all rely on a variety of browser extensions to help us maximize productivity and collaborate efficiently, understanding the risks associated with these extensions becomes critical as this reliance increases.
From permission requests to unpatched vulnerabilities and non-compliance, many factors can make an extension considered risky. Additionally, while many rely on manual risk evaluations, the risk expands. Integrating Spin.AI’s Risk Assessment aims to mitigate the potential risk of browser extensions for admins and SecOps teams that use Perception Point’s security platform.
Google has also integrated the Spin.AI Risk Assessment into the Google Workspace Admin console – allowing Google admins to see the risk scores for all integrated Chrome browser extensions.
How does Spin.AI App Risk Assessment work?
Utilizing machine learning, Spin.AI’s risk assessment tool collects and analyzes data to assess the risk of each extension detected in your SaaS environment. It examines more than 15 attributes – including business, security, and compliance aspects – to produce a risk score (a rating on a scale of 100) for every extension.
Admins can see the risk scores for all integrated browser extensions on a simple, easy-to-use dashboard view. They can then click the extension name, access the Spin.AI risk score, and make better security decisions based on that score.
